Road Test: Maybelline’s Baby Lips Repairing Tinted Lip Balm

Worried about incoming cold weather drying out your lips? Never fear: Maybelline’s Baby Lips tinted lip balm is here!

Baby Lips

I don’t know about you, Bettys, but during the winter, my lips dry out like nobody’s business. The weather hasn’t quite reached winter-level chill yet, but given the drastic drop in temperature last week, it looks like it’s well on its way—which is why I was super happy when Maybelline’s Baby Lips Repairing Tinted Lip Balm ($3.99, available at drugstores everywhere) showed up in our mailbox!

These new lip balms keep your lips soft and moisturized for a full 8 hours, and they give you a subtle hint of color paired with a delightful scent while they’re at it. I tried Baby Lips in three varities: Grape Vine, Pink Punch, and Peach Kiss. While Grape Vine had the best color of the three—it came out as a wine-colored stain once it hit my lips—Pink Punch definitely smelled the best. Remember Hawaiian Punch bubble gum? It smelled like that. Hello, nostalgia! All three of the lip balms did a fantastic job smoothing out my poor, cracked lips, though, so they’re all winners on that front.

What’s Maybelline’s secret? Their exclusive Botanical Cell Renewal Concentrate with Centella Asiatica. A plant native to India, Sri Lanka, Australia, and other parts of Asai, Centella Asiatic is noted for its ability to improve lip coloration and reduce the appearance of fine lines—so you can be sure you’re treating your lips right. The lip balms are also packed with Vitamin E and C, which, along with some shea butter and aloe, makes sure your lips stay smooth all day. Oh, and don’t forget the SPF 20, so you’re even guarded against the sun!

Now, remember that Maybelline Baby Lips ARE lip balms, so the color has a tendency to fade after a while; but you’ll want to keep reapplying anyway just to keep smelling those fantastic scents. And with all those great moisturizers, your lips will thank you for it.

Bring it on, winter weather!
